PROPOSSE is an INTERREG Project with a budget over 2 million euros cofinanciated by the Europan Union in the framewok of the Atlantic Area Cooperation Programme 2007-2013.

CONSORTIUM

Involved, for spanish side, the Port Authority -project leader- and the Oviedo Chamber of Commerce, the Port of Aveiro and AIDA -Associação Industrial do Distrito de Aveiro- from Portugal, CRITT Transport & Logistique from France, Marine Southeast and the Port of Poole from England and the Port of Cork from Ireland.

OBJECTIVES

The Project began in 2009 and is going to finish by the end of this year with the aim of promoting the short Sea Shipping (SSS) in the context of SMEs as an alternative to improve the competitiveness of its supply chain and as an instrument of internationalization to conquer new markets.

ACTIVITIES

  1. Benchmark Analysis and identification of critical factors of Short Sea Shipping in relation to SMEs.
    With respect to all players: shipping companies, SMEs, Short Sea Shipping Promotion Centres, etc.- in the Atlantic Area.
  2. Study of the demand for Short Sea Shipping by SMEs.
    Identifying trade flows which can use Short Sea Shipping in the hinterlands of each ports involved in the project.
  3. Analysis of logistic services required by SMEs.
    In order to identify obstacles to overcome for an efficient integration of the mode of Short Sea Shipping in the chains of SMEs.
  4. Design Routes.
    For participant ports using a standard cost / benefit objectives that would achieve profitability in the medium term.
  5. Partnerships with Carriers.
    Facilitating agreements between motor carriers and shippers with the goal of open competitive routes form them and SMEs.
